General Education in Elementary Schools

This class will give you the opportunity to work with upper elementary grade children

WHAT

The topics covered in this class are:

  • the role of undergrad mentors in raising academic expectations for students and families traditionally underrepresented at universities
  • the relationship between the school and community
  • the social and political organization of elementary schools
  • the academic achievement of elementary children
  • COOL POINTS

  • Get to spend 4-6 hours a week acting as tutors, mentors, and/or facilitators in classrooms, labs, and after school programs at a number of low-income neighborhood schools throughout San Diego County
  • Covers DEI requirement
